2011 Ducati 848 EVO Sportbike

2011 Ducati 848 EVO Sportbike
  • Ducati has announced another EVO model release, with its 2011 Ducati 848 EVO middleweight sportbike. Like the EVO versions of the Hypermotard (2010 Ducati Hypermotard EVO First Ride) the new 848 builds off the base model, but features a higher-spec engine and performance-related additions, with the Italian marque citing feedback from AMA Pro Racing (where the 848 campaigns in the Daytona SportBike class) as well as consumer feedback.
  • The Testastretta Evoluzione Twin gets a redesign, with Ducati swapping out new cylinder heads, pistons, throttle bodies and camshafts. While the Bologna-firm doesn’t divulge details on the new internal changes, it claims the mods up power to 140 hp @ 10,500 rpm and 72.3 lb-ft of torque at 9750 rpm. The standard 848 claims 134 hp at 10,000 rpm and 70.8 lb-ft at 8250 rpm, for EVO net power gaining six ponies and 1.5 lb-ft at higher rpm.
  • The 848 EVO chassis get performance help too, with a cross-mounted steering damper standard equipment. Wheels are covered with the latest generation Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires, which replace the standard 848’s Dragon Supercorsa PRO. In the braking department, Brembo monobloc calipers round out the changes.

Jaguar plans to manufacture 750,000 units by year 2018

When luxury car brand Jaguar was still under the wings of the Premiere Auto Group, it simmered down on its ambitious big-volume plans. But they are with Tata now and they are scaling up their volumes once more. It has yet to be made official but Jaguar is said to be planning to manufacture around 750,000 units by the end of year 2018 with the help of Land Rover as its partner. Yes, Jaguar is back to its big-volume dreams as the 750,000 units plan is about three times as much as its present production figures suggest.

The new breeds of executives of these car companies have agreed make engines that are more fuel-efficient and vehicle designs and production procedures that are more applicable to a wider range.

With these in mind, the Land Rover needs to evaluate several components of its upcoming models while Jaguar is working on revamping the XF model that comes with a corresponding wagon counterpart that will be launched in the last quarter of the year. By the year 2013, Jaguar is said to launch sports car models with lighter price tags and a family-friendly car model that will go head to head with the BMW 3-series and the Mercedes-Benz C-class range. There are also planning to launch new versions for XK and XF models by 2014.

There also word that Jaguar is brainstorming about the creation of a four-door shooting brake system that will debut along with the next-generation XF models. This plan is speculated to give the sales a boost by almost 15 percent. Nobody likes to overpay for their car insurance policy, so head over to Farmers and get a new auto insurance quote right now to start saving $$$!

McLaren coming up with new F1 supercar by 2012

McLaren will be releasing the new F1 supercar come 2012 or roughly two years earlier than its original release.

The new McLaren supercar is expected to come later this decade as the car manufacturer has its hands full setting up another company, creating the MP4-12C, and making sure they have a good network of dealers to sell their lineup.

According to insiders, the new F1 will be a revolutionary supercar which will be distinguished as such. This is the other side of the coin to its sibling the MP4-12C which receives criticisms for its unadventurous design lines.

The new McLaren F1 is being pushed by an excellent development program which could be the fastest and most efficient the car industry has seen so far.

The new F1 supercar will have a mid engine setup on its carbon fiber monocoque with a similar architecture to the MP4-12C. Despite the intention to be really radical, the car will still have traces of the F1 brood. It is also not clear if it will take the original configuration of the car where the driving seat is placed centrally.

The F1 on the works is expected to implement technologies that will put emphasis on keeping the weight of the car down.

McLaren has not released any information yet with regard to the powerplant of the F1 but I may possibly come with solutions for low emission.

Who Wouldn’t Envy GM’s EN-V Concepts?

I have to admit, the title of this post is just a little bit tongue in cheek.

The reason? Well, I have personal issues with a lot of personal mobility vehicles. And, you guessed it, GM’s new series of EN-V concepts are pretty much all personal mobility vehicles.

I see the practicality — especially here. You see, GM is working in conjunction with SAIC, their China based partner.

Shanghai, Beijing: cities that thriving could seriously benefit from vehicles like this. Sure, they are not the most aesthetically pleasing things in the world, but I’ll grant you that there are types out there who find them cooler than anything.

And for that area, they are beyond practical.

Foto do novo Honda CR-V vaza na internet

Nova geração do crossover deve receber melhorias no motor e parte mecânica

Segundo informações do Autoblog, a parte mecânica deve sofrer alterações importantes. Sob o capô, o propulsor 2.4 pode ser mantido, mas esperam-se melhorias na potência. A caixa de cinco velocidades deve ser substituída por uma transmissão automática de seis marchas.

Coreanos desenham a Ferrari do futuro

Coreanos desenham a Ferrari do futuro

What is the Caveman Diet and Paleo Diet

There's a diet craze on town that would supposedly give you optimum health and weight the way human ancestors had back in the jungle man era. Introducing the Paleo Diet, also known as the Caveman Diet. But what is the Caveman Diet and Paleo Diet?

The Paleo Diet is a practice of eating locally-based gluten-free food i.e. organic lean meat, fish, poultry, eggs, nuts, fruits and vegetables. The catch: No grains, legumes (that means no peanuts for you. It's a legume, not a nut), dairy, salt, refined sugar and processed oils—some which would of course totally make your food taste like bleh. This of course is a "powerful way to normalize health and well-being" according to Loren Cordain, a professor of health and exercise at Colorado State University.

Fred Flintstone is totally on Paleo. Just look at his bod-urrrrr...

Regardless, the Caveman Diet has found success in the users of whole9life.com,which pitches a Paleo Diet post way back May 2010 (which makes me wonder why this diet is just reaching mainstream shores). You could check the whole story here.

But does this so called Caveman Diet really work? According to WebMD's quizzer to health specialists, a person can achieve a better state of health in the Paleo Diet regimen, but also added that a balanced diet and food consumption moderation is still the way to go.

There's not much research done about the Caveman / Paleo Diet's effects, but in fairness to the said diet, it placed an honorable fourth on the number of people who said yes at the question "Did this diet work for you?" on the U.S. News & World Reports Best Diets—4807 users to be exact. Ironically, it also has the most numerous nos in the tally—23,689—which unquestionably makes it the #1 not-working diet in the list and sits at 20 out of 20 all in all.

If you're still interested in trying the Paleo Diet—or Caveman Diet, whatever suits your taste—check the Paleo Diet Wikipedia page. Unsurprisingly, it also has it's own website at thepaleodiet.com.

So there you go. If you're trying to go a la caveman with a matching Rogaine-like hair thickness to match or just want to experience something similar to what our olden folks ate tens of thousands of years ago, go for the Paleo Diet. Next post: The Jurassic Diet.

'Till my next installment.
